Dr. Christopher Grandits
Dr. Grandits is the owner and director of Thriving Point. He has received training to work with adolescents (16 +) and adults who have issues related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, obsessive-compulsive personality disorder, persistent depressive disorder, major depressive disorder, body-focused repetitive disorders, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, generalized anxiety disorder, somatic symptom disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, agoraphobia, and panic disorder.
Dr. Grandits can also assist with healing from difficulties associated with grief, perfectionism, chronic pain, major life transitions, faith-based issues, and existential issues.
Dr. Grandits will work with you to find the therapy that best supports your growth. Dr. Grandits offers a wide variety of state of the art therapies to help you overcome your symptoms. These therapies include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Behavioral Activation (BA), Behavior Therapy (BT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP), and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PET)
Education and Training
Dr. Grandits received two undergraduate degrees at the University at Buffalo; a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. He was awarded a Master of Arts degree in Existential-Humanistic Transpersonal Psychology from the University of West Georgia. Dr. Grandits earned his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Hofstra University. Dr. Grandits was trained to work with adults at two premier Cognitive-Behavioral training practices: Manhattan Cognitive-Behavioral as a predoctoral extern and Austin Anxiety and OCD Specialists as a post-doctoral fellow. He also has extensive experience working with college students as a predoctoral extern at the Hofstra University Counseling and Psychological Services and during an internship at the Clemson University Student Counseling Center. While working at Clemson he met the love of his life and decided to settle near his family in Greenville, SC.
Dr. Grandits is licensed in South Carolina #1711 and holds an ASPPB Interjurisdictional Practice Certificate for Texas #16542.
